John delaney caught a 32 yard touchdown pass and fred costabiie ran 86 yards with a blocked field goal to account for the scoring, bob krick played a great defensive game, mike trapani had his best evening in the air despite some costly mistakes by his receivers. (left to right) trainers charles nettleman, mark Johnson and mark doc crowell. smile or grimace? the record book shows that the odds are 7 to 3 that head coach hargis is smiling. marist ' s fearsome front fivi ' i 62 (left to right) coach alexander, coach thomalson. coach nuss, coach hargis, coach thomas, coach law, and coach murry- CX f VI If fl II game VI -homecoming 69 — manst 14, north springs 18. marist built up a 14-6 haiftime advantage on the strength of a 15 yard fumble recovery return by mike trapani and a 22 yard t.d. run also by the trap, this score was set up by a long pass to flanker dan hollman. however, a pulverizing ground attack led the spartans to two 2nd half scores and, the victory, a corageous drive by the war eagles was halted by a fumble at the north springs 20 yard line, game VII -marist 20, henderson 9. perhaps looking ahead to woodward and pius, the eagles trailed 9-7 at haiftime. but bill mills ran the second half kick back 90 yards for the season ' s best run and our defense allowed no more points that evening, corky reynolds and mell rummel both ran well, terry cantrell also returned to form scoring on a 1 yard plunge and a 7 yard pass from mike trapani. dan hollman picked off his 7th pass of the year, game VI I -marist 7, woodward academy 0. this game was played in a rainstorm on a very sloppy field and was a grueling defensive battle all the way. the only touchdown of the game was scored by mell rummel on a 3 yard run early in the game. game IX-marist st. pius 14. played in sub freezing temperatures, this game was scoreless for the first three periods, great defense highlighted these quarters, with six minutes remaining, a pass interference call set up a pius touchdown, then, in the last seconds of the game, pius scored its second touchdown. game X-marist 17 St. loseph 14. the eagles led 140 at haiftime, but the hawks tied It in the second half, bobby cox, marist ' s soccer-style kicker, boomed a thirty yard field goal with seconds remaining to gam the victory. final 7 wins, 3 losses. 3rd m region 4aa a special thanks to fr. caffery ' s soccer style kicker, senior robert cox, a late comer who saved us in the st joe game with a 3 pointer. 63 ft.
