Girl's Choir The Girl's Choir, under the able leader- ship of Mrs. Shirley Madden, continued to improve on both their material and their quality. Meeting only at lunch two days a week, the girls ran up an impressive series of concert appearances combined with some grade school tours. 4 ,Q -.al - .i , 14,-. 1- , ,N t 'st-3-hillf Top, the Girl's Choir practices with Mrs. Madden on piano, above, Teri Jansen waits for the rest of the group, left, the choir breaks for the purpose of signing some yearbooks. Jazz Ensemble The Jazz Ensemble once more had a good year under the able leadership of Andy Gilbert. They visited several schools, played at the Pleasant Hill Jazz Festival, and met with wide approval at a Spring Concert at which they performed jointly with the Wind Ensemble, While not doing as well as they had hoped at the Jazz Festival, they made a respectable showing, and proved that they are truly the cream of the young jazz musicians of the state of Oregon. ln 1977-78 the Marist Swing Choir once again proved they had more class and poise than many other groups classed into the same category. At the Pleasant Hill Jazz Festival the Marist group, under the direction of lVlr. Gene Skinner, sang a low-key gospel oriented program while other choirs did boogie-woogie tunes. They performed at all of the Choir concerts this year and did several trips of their own. Swing Choir Director ........ Gene Skinner Sopranos .......
