Nagel Trip To State Highlights Rebuilding Year When the season ended at the day of the State Finals at Lane Community College, the Spartan Harriers had the nucleus for the building of a strong future program. All of the runners will be back next year with added endurance, added strength and added experience. This year saw the start of a boys and a girls cross country team. The co- captains of the boys team were John Nagel and Jerry Rinaldi. The captain for the girls was Laurie Moran. This year the harriers placed John Nagel in the state finals. John finished in 32nd place with a time of 17:26 for the 5000 meter course for a new school record. John also finished in sixth place at the Sky-Em District meet. For his accomplishments John made the Sky-Em All Star Cross Country Team. Br. Ron said: With just a few more runners next year, we can do some big things-we will be able to surprise some teams in the Sky-Em. We will have a strong team showing in the District meet and we will be able to have more Spartan Harriers in the State Finals . . . Big things are in the Making, for those who want it . . .
