'lag to Win 4 ,., . The Freshman Baseball Team was highly successful this year. Fine pitching by Tom Marks, Tom Broderick and Dan Conrad played an important role in the team's triumphs. Key defensive plays by John Henry, Jim Bandyk, Dave Messmaker, and Bill Panko also were very impressive. Excellent speed on the base paths was provided by Joe Hodorowicz and Joe Borak. Heavy hit- ting support at the plate was provided by Bugs Moran, Doug Busch, Joe Hodorowicz and our D H Mr. Mitchell. Freshman Champions 9-3, Reavis Freshman Tournament Champions, Over all record of 14-4. The season was successful and enjoyable due to the excellent teamwork of Coaches Rogowski and Ryan and of each individual player. The Sophomore Baseball Team enjoyed a fine spring season win- ning the conference title and the Beavis tournament. They fin- ished with an overall record of 20-3. The Redskins excelled in all phases of the game but particularly in the areas of hitting, pitch- ing and base running. With a lot of hard work and the develop- ment of added poise, the baseball class of 1980 could find even greater success in their remaining two years of a fine Marist base ball tradition. The highlight of the team's season at this writing was its second consecutive team district championship in state competition qual- ifying all members of the district team for the state finals. Captain Greg Temofeew lead the Redskins with his second consecutive district singles championship. Junior Rick Burgess and Sopho- more Jeff Schuetz combined their talents at first doubles to take second place. Our second singles player, Rich Temofeew, and our second doubles team of Dave Kaiser and Al George won their opening matches to win three important points toward our team championship. The team is hoping to better its state ranking of last as a team C13thD under the leadership of Greg Temofeew who finished last year in the state's top 20 singles players. Aside from victories and defeats and rankings, the team reflected the spirit and friendship of the Marist tradition at its best, and we thank the Lord for the victories that satisfied and excited us, and defeats that caused us to examine ourselves and to grow. .x-' .v.t s I ' FQ? .- f F.. , L 1 'Q 1 , .
