ON THE MOVE A new Student Council emerged at Marist this year - a Council concerned with its role as a motivating force within the Marist community. A leadership workshop in August helped the Council set its goals and determine its direction for 1977-78. As a result of this planning, many different proiects and activi- ties were presented to the Marist community. Homecom- ing was remodeled and emerged as Fall Festival '77, a week long celebration complete with Run for Marist Mara thon, Gong Show, Film Festival, and a Beatles Night, all highlighted by the Fall Festival semi-formal, The Sun's Coming Up. Winter saw the return of Christmas Dance and the appearance of the Three Stooges and the Marx Brothers in the Council's Winter Film Festival. Several sock hops were held and culminated with the appearance of M 84 R Rush in early Spring. In other areas, the Council continued its service to the greater Chicago area and the Marist communities through its involvement with the Beverly Blood Bank in the Marist Community Blood Coverage Program. ln its own interest, the 1977-78 Student Council left its succes- sors with a newly revised Constitution designed to make future councils more effective and dynamic. Superb leadership on the part of the senior councilmen left the 1978-79 Student Council both a legacy and a challenge. It was a very good year!

A london tour at Christmas provided a look at a completely different world of pubs, cas- tles, and a unique way of life. At Easter a cruise permitted the relaxation and enjoy- ment of sun and fun for the seniors. For those nature lovers or those who iust wanted to get out ot the city, the canoes of Ouetico were waiting. No matter whether students traveled for Sun, Fog, or Nature, they agreed it was the best trip they had been taken for. 9' B ' iggz ZSN iT.gi, g if , 3 sf WE . . we i H ka K A V ,Q iii? 5 me V w,,v,,,,,,.Q,.. .ws - Wzfgvgwvwm X S ..
