In-School Spirit The Intramural Program, dating back to the early days of the school, is one of the oldest activities at Marist. The purpose of the program is to foster school and homeroom spirit as well as to provide an outlet for students not involved in inter- scholastic sports. Approximately 1200 students participated in the program this past year. Activities include football, bas- ketball, volleyball, checkers, and chess. Competition pits homeroom teams from each class against each other. Two annual highlights are the Faculty vs. Intramural Champ foot' ball and basketball games. This year a tug-of-war contest was held for the first time. The Intramural Referees' Associ- ation is the backbone of the organization, providing stu- dents to schedule, officiate, and keep statistics.
