CONFERENCE TRDPHY -rrjywgr This year marked the fulfillment of the goal that many Marist Cross Country Teams have pursued - a District Champion- ship. This was the icing on the cake for a team that had successfully defended it's East Suburban Catholic Confer- ence Championship. Winning the Conference trophy for the fourth consecutive year, the varsity built up a season record to 10 wins and one loss. This year can also boast of another first: three Marist run- ners qualified for State finals. Senior co-capt. John Haber- korn, and sophomores Ralph Caron and Tim Delaney were part of that record setting group. Additional honors were also received by way of all Conference team membership for these three plus senior co-capt., John Ouinn, and junior, Tom Leonard. These accomplishments will hopefully set the stage for future record-breaking performances and personal excel- lence. 4th YEAR IN A RDW -2+ if 4 I

Conference Champs 4th Year in a Row Coached by Mr. Boyce, the Frosh-Soph Cross Country was phenomenal in extending their record to thirty-one consecutive dual meet victories without a single loss over the past four years with a perfect 1 1 wins, 0 loss record, capturing four first place and two second place invitational trophies. They finished their season suc- cessfully defending their conference championship for the fourth year in a row. With the top three sophomores on the Varsity team, the Frosh-Soph showed tremendous depth led by Tom O'Hara, Glenn Janicki, Jim Mitoraj, and George Meji- cano. Although the team was dominated by Sopho- mores, the Freshmen did their part, too, capturing a first and fourth place finish in the invitationals which should be the basis for a strong team next year.
