Q: WHAT I9 THE BEST QPECTATOR SPORT AT MARl9T'7 A: One says the best is the contact of football, another says it's the excitement of basketball, while yet a third says it's the agility of soccer. Yes, all of these are great spectator sports, but if every organization were taken into considera- tion, a small group consisting of nine members would lead the league. These nine bring the crowd to their feet at a rally. These nine bring a smile to everyone's face even when the team is down by 15 with only seconds to go. These nine young talented people represent Marist every time they per- form. Many of the students know all nine by their first names. These nine also combine the contact of football, the excitement of basketball and the agility of soccer into one spirited activity. Slip Slidin' Awag Fairbanks, Alaska? Duluth, Minnesota? No, Chicago, Illinois! This is the way Chicago looked after one of the city's worst winters. Sub-zero temperatures, frequent snowfalls, and icy blasts of wind were all characteristics of a normal day this winter. The city was subjected to an unprecedented 80 inches of snow, the most in Chicago's history. Everyone felt the effects of mother nature. Students waited for buses that never came. Teachers' cars were barricaded behind snow- packed garage doors. Everyone experienced some form of cold or flu throughout winter '78. Some of the more visible marks left by this winter were the low attendances in school in contrast to the high attendances at ski lifts. A good snow- ball fight could be found almost anywhere.
