A YEAH TO BUILD The 1976-77 basketball season was a rebuilding year for new head coach Paul Swanson and his staff. With Mike Collins as the only returning regular from last season's fine squad, the young Redskins found the tremendous schedule tough going. Things started shaping up at Christmas as the Redskins captured the consolation championship at the Centralia Holiday Tournament. By Regional time the young Redskins were playing good competitive basketball. Standouts this season were Seniors Mike Collins and Don Richardson. Four Sophomores played varsity basket- ball led by 6'4 Larry Tucker. We will also have an outstan- ding group of 8th graders entering our program. Next season looks very bright for the still young Redskins with a lot of experienced varsity players returning. They will have more size, strength, quickness, and scoring ability than last season. The Redskins will play one of the toughest schedules in the state next year and could be a con- ference contender.

FROSH AND SOPHS LOOK AHEAD This year at Marist the freshmen provided some heights of excitement and teamwork that their physical size could not match. Through blizzards and sub-zero temperatures, the 6:00 A.M. practices and hard work went on and the spirit was built. The team maintained its courage and spirit through the season in spite of the sadness they experienced in the death of one of their leaders, Bro. Vincent Colella. The Sophomores experienced a season of ups and downs. Their many hours of practice brought them third place in the Conference. Although St. Pat's was first, Marist was the only team to beat them. Marist Sophomores came out se- cond in the Thornton North Frac- tional Play-offs.
