SENIORS SERVE SOUTH SIDE COMMUNITY The student Handbook describes Senior Service as an elective program within the Religion Department. lt is designed to afford a Senior the opportunity of putting his values and beliefs into practice in some worthwhile apostolic venture. RALLIESI Through all that confusion: shouts, laughs, cheers, music, and general uproar at a rally, one can gain insight into the real Spirit of Marist-a Spirit that can never be captured between the covers of Yearbook-a Spirit dis- played by the students, faculty, parents and cheerleaders who have worked so hard all year long at rallies, Football, Basketball, and Soccer games, and also at Track Meets. CELEBRATIONS! lt's so easy to just GO to Mass. How often are most of us really in- volved in the total meaning and progression of the Mass? lt's not so easy to be involved in a Mass, which is what Marist strives to have all of the students do at the various liturgies during the year. Together we attend Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and School-year clos- ing Masses. At the closing school- year Mass, we all listened in respect- ful attention to Bro. Ron Horbatiuk as he spoke to us during the Homily: This is not the 'end of an era'-but a new beginning . . . We all have a lot in com- mon-just BE-rise up beyond what you seem to see-shatter the image and live-don't worry about what you see-be the true 'LIVING SPIRIT'-the human spirit-the spirit of 77, 78, 79, spirit of 1980 . . . the team spirit-the dynamic force of life which we are capable of becoming . . Once we LOOK BE- YOND-beyond self images, beyond mirror reflections, beyond things around us-so much more can be done . . . don't get lost, don't get upset-with the way things seem to be or appear to be-today ushers in the theme of great HOPE-there is great newness available, look beyond-go beyond . . .
