Physical Education And Lifetime Sports F, if - -.....,,, '- l . 5 if ii' . Coach Dewayne Curry is ready to call a foul during a game of boys' basketball. Physical education and lifetime sports depart- ment was headed by Mr. Ron Hogue, Mr. Ron Cope, and Miss Susan Alley. Lifetime sports took field trips to the trapshooting range, bowling al- ley, golf range, racquetball court, and archery range. They had units on recreational games, which included cards, chess, and checkers. Phys- ical education stressed physical fitness and mus- cle coordination through such group activities as volleyball, basketball, flashball, and baseball. - ..... Industrial Arts A T001 For The Future Most shop students felt that shop class was very beneficial for their future. It taught them to use tools properly and to make many utilitarian items of wood and metal. They made such items as desks, chairs, cabinets, stands. speaker cabinets, and barbecue tools made of iron. They also con- structed a float in the shape of a rocket for the Andy Finley is shown demonstrating how to cut a board on the radial arm saw in third hour shop. Ronnie Wright compares the size of the drill bit with the screw so he can use the drill. Mark Vanderhoof is shown sanding a drawer for his jewelry chest in prepara- tion for staining and finishing. Health classes this year were taught by Susan Alley and Ron Hogue. This was Ms. Alley's third year, and Mr. Hogue's first year. Many extras such as filmstrips, current events, and outside guests were used to il- lustrate the importance of health education. ln addition to these helpful aids the instruc- tors used class discussions and lectures to make their classes interesting. Improved health practices were stressed for current and future good health. Coach Hogue answers Aaron Young's question about his homework assignment.
