Highwa To Better Tomorrow This year an everyday foundation in math was stressed. There were more advanced math classes to prepare students for col- lege or a career in a related field. Some subjects were algebra I gl ll, trigonom- etry and basic math ll. Career Education I Implemented In Industrial Arts An emphasis on careers related to indus- trial arts was a major implementation during this year. Shop students made their traditional trip to the National Crafts Festival at Silver Dollar City. Participation in the district I. E . Awards Program was a highlight of the spring semester. This year's I.A. Christmas float won first prize in the Marionville parade and second place at the Aurora parade. The industrial arts class float waves joyfully to the COMET photographer! Lifetime Sports Added Dimension To P.E. Mr. Dave Bassore, a new faculty mem- ber, taught life sports as a new class of- fered for MHS. Life sports taught many activities to students which would benefit them in the later years of life. Some of these were golf, bowling, card games, archery, and indoor group games. Coaches Randy Rader and Susan Alley su- pervised p.e. classes which supplemented the daily classroom grind with a recrea- tional break. Eldon Cook and Larry Eaton listen while Carol Farley and jonette Kasinger explain their version of pitch in lifetime sports.
