Speech And English- The Road To Better Communication Carol Carlton and Judy Ray headed this year's English department. Mrs. Carlton taught English I and II. A new system called the Reading Attainment Center was used. Mrs . Ray instructed English ll and all English III courses. Mass media, for juniors and seniors, better prepared stu- dents for the world of communication. Speech classes were taught by Mrs . Carlton. Career Education I Implemented In Industrial Arts An emphasis on careers related to indus- trial arts was a major implementation during this year. Shop students made their traditional trip to the National Crafts Festival at Silver Dollar City. Participation in the district I. E . Awards Program was a highlight of the spring semester. This year's I.A. Christmas float won first prize in the Marionville parade and second place at the Aurora parade. The industrial arts class float waves joyfully to the COMET photographer!
