Marion College this year faces several critical problems each of which could aptly be called a turn in the road. One of these is the student concept of a Christian College. The founders, present alumni, and supporting church have had traditional concepts of a Christian college. Within the new generation of students many of these concepts are challenged. Out of it some may lead to more effective ser¬ vice. But we must also be aware of blind alleys or tangent ways that may dilute our institutional Christian testimony. During the year studies and steps must be taken to estab¬ lish fiscal policies and practices that will provide at the same time annual balanced budgets and continuing opportunities for growth of the college. A wrong turn here would have harmful effects. This is also the year of reexamination for regional ac- crediation. To make provision for instructional improvement is a vital part of the college program. Such improvement needs to enhance the college purposes. Truly our paths provide many opportunities to turn aside but we must be prepared both as individuals and as an institution to make the right turn to achieve progress toward our goals.
