It S, -:war 1 x --.ff-f Editor Business Manager Sponsor Jean Falling Walter McKee Clarence Huffman 4O YEAR W ago Marion College graduated her first class. Over 6600 students have gone to school here over the past four decades. Today she is 'still producing well-educated young men and women to go out into the world, giving forth the gospel of Christ-centered living in many walks of life. The past has made Marion College as it is today. Let each one of us strive to make our best contribution to the Marion College of tomorrow. Granted that there are limiting factors, yet there will always exist one or more alternatives. Today's vision sets the direction .of our travel. Planning defines the progressive steps of accomplishment. Dedicated service translates hopes into realities. Willing gifts provide the means of growth. But we are limited in our vision, planning, service, and giving unless we are under thecanopy of Divine blessing. We need daily the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. Never should we lose sight of the truth, God giveth the increase. DR. WOODROW GOODMAN I V V .iw fi:-F: 5 . Through the eight years that you have served here as faculty member, many of us students havecome for personal or academic counselling. Your sched- ule was never too full to listen to our problems, give advice and pray with us. We appreciate your spiritual leadership, your friendly smile and your way of letting us know that you're our friend. And we love that soft southern style of speech. Thank you for attending our banquets, our parties, our basketball games, and other social functions. Thank you for guiding us in physical education for the several years you held that position. We always have appreciated your family pew in church too. Your devotion to Christ, the church and His cause has made us admire you. For these and many other reasons, we wish to thank you. And because of all this, we dedicate our 1961 MARIONETTE to you, Dr. E. Harold Shigley. Mrs. Shigley, La.Vonne, Dr. Shigley, Rhonda, Joy, Donna, Beth. Dr. and Mrs. Shigley OUR CHAPLAIN REVEREND GARL BEAVER I We are fortunate to have as our college chaplain, the Reverend Garl Beaver His weekly sermons are sources of real inspiration to the college youth. The hours spent under his minis- try are hours of enrichment and blessing. Ar the present time, Reverend Beaver has been ac- tive in the building program of the church which will help to more adequately meet the needs of each one of us. Marion College appreciates the devoted labor of its chaplain. zo . , . 1 ww w w lx-X .JN M, -A vw' , -1. . '.
