In the shadow. . Dear Student, Generations of Marion College students have passed under the shadow of the familiar tower until it seems to symbolize the aca¬ demic influence of the institution. The tower is solid, dignified with age, practical, and yet beautiful as it stands, garlanded with ivy, through sunshine and storm. Its solidity signifies the substantial body of facts which Marion College seeks to impart. Its dignity represents the dominion of truth, the truth that makes men free and that flames into a passion in the heart of the true scholar. Its practicality signifies the training which the college gives for the actual work of life’s callings. And always, its beauty stands for the appreciation of the best in literature and the arts which Marion College strives to foster in her students.
