Marion College is coming to the close of a very splendid year. Our problems have been many but there has been an over¬ shadowing Divine Presence which has directed in our solutions. For many, the situation looks dark and foreboding. The defense program with its draft of young men is a reality. All out war is a possibility. Nevertheless, Marion College purposes to face the future with confidence in the One who said, Lo, I am with you alway.” The campaign for Williams Flail is moving steadily forward. It is our purpose to get ready for the earliest possible moment when actual construction may be started. Marion College is a training center in the warfare against the forces of unrighteous¬ ness. Dear Student, Generations of Marion College students have passed under the shadow of the familiar tower until it seems to symbolize the aca¬ demic influence of the institution. The tower is solid, dignified with age, practical, and yet beautiful as it stands, garlanded with ivy, through sunshine and storm. Its solidity signifies the substantial body of facts which Marion College seeks to impart. Its dignity represents the dominion of truth, the truth that makes men free and that flames into a passion in the heart of the true scholar. Its practicality signifies the training which the college gives for the actual work of life’s callings.
