MORGAN COUNTY ORATORICAL CONTEST Marion High School took all three of the first places in the events of the an- nual Morgan County Oratorical contest which was held on the night of May 6, at Deaver- town. The other competing schools, Penns- ville, Stockport, and Deavertown each took second place in one event. The three events of the contest with the winner of each event were: Humorous reading Mona Mae Ewart Dramatic reading Dorothea Williams Oratorical reading Marjorie Fawcett Mrs. Robert C. Kinney, public speaking teacher, coach. Professor Staats, head of the speech department of Ohio University acted as judge of the contest. We are very proud that Marion High School was given first place in every event by a really expert judge. True worth demands recognition.

Under the excellent coaching of Hrs Kinney, this play pleased everyone - John Walsh played the part of Tom Sawyer in a way all his own Landon Long as Huclle berry Finn with h1s dead cat, and Robert Hodgin as Joe Harper provoked many laughs All the members of the cast played their parts well and deserved the congratula tlons for a piece of work well done
