The Marion Institute Tennis Team was led for the second year in a row by Team Captain Bill Fisher, playing in Cut-out, the number one 5 position. C. X ' The Cadets toiled to meet any by ,D - Junior Colleges this year, tangling GMRS with only four year schools, and 1 emerged with a respectable five won, eight lost record. The M. 34.2 I9 -19 9 gay- W.. I v 7 I I A 5 LEFT TO RIGHT: A. W. Smith, W. J. Langley, T. E. Trippe, W. P. Ferris J. N. Ogden, W. W. Hurulson, and Capt. Murfee, Coach. For the first time in the history of Marion Institute the golf team went undefeated, with only one tie to mar its otherwise perfect record. Bill Ferriss, doubtless the finest golfer ever to play for Marion Institute held dovvn the number I position. He won every match but two and these he tied While averaging 72 strokes per round for the year, Ferriss and Trippe, who played number 3 man, qualified in the championship flight in Anniston and Selma Invitational Tournaments. Playing number 2, 3, 4, and 5 for the cadets were Jim Ogden, Tommy Trippe, Bill Langley, and Arthur Smith. In the last match of the season Ferriss and Ogden, playing number I and 2 respectively, had a best ball of IO under par on the Selma Country Club course.
