Vicki Boese Shirley Helmer 23 February 13, 1970 was A Time For Us as three lovely candidates awaited the half-time Queen of Court festivites. As the ceremony began, the Pep Club members formed a candlelit pathway to the beautifully decorated throne. Vicki Boese, Cathy Coe, and Shirley Helmer were escorted down the path to the awaiting throne by three of the basket- ball varsity. As the excitement rose, Cathy Coe was crowned the 1970 Queen of Courts by her escort, Mike Regnier. Queen Cathy and her attendants reigned over the last half of the fierce battle be- tween the Marion Warriors and the Council Grove Braves. Later a reception royalty honoring Queen Cathy and her attendants completed the perfect evening, which was truly A Time For Us.

Mike Jackson, Shot Put Bill Finke, Javelin; Louis Wegerer, Shot Put. This year, again, the Mighty Warriors, coached by Rex Wilson, maintained a highly successful track season. Because of the many hours of their intensive effort, the Warriors brought home two second-place trophies— one at the Hesston invitational, one at the CVL meet; and one third-place trophy at Burrton. The boys also placed fifth at the Manhattan Regional. The team, consisting of thirty-six boys, includes two seniors, rated quite high not only as a single unit, but also as in- dividuals. The state track meet proved extremely successful for two of the Warriors—Doug Kelsey, who placed third in the broad jump; and Craig Smith, who placed fourth in the high hurdles.
