Because of the addition of the new library this year, the Librar- ians, under the direction of Mrs. Steinel, have played an important part in helping the students and pointing out the newly located books. Along with their duties in the library, the librarians sold brownies during several lunch hours as a money-making project. They also ran several concession stands as various athletic events. At the end of the year, the librarians took a trip and visited all the League high school libraries—Herington, Centre, Peabody, Hillsboro--and McPherson's high school library. The trip was con- cluded by attending a movie, The Bible, in Newton. MRS. STEINEL Librarian THIS PAGE SPONSORED BV HOLIDAY HOUSE and NEWSOM'S GREENHOUSE 22

Student Council OFFICERS: (left to right) Becky Coe-Treasurer, Danny Steinel-Vice President, Shelley Hett-Secretary, Myron Fra ns-President. (Left to Right) FIRST ROW: Susan Yeagley, Myron Frans, Shelley Hett, Danny Steinel, Becky Coe, Diann Wiens. SECOND ROW: Denise Wiens, Charles Pancratz, Anita Hett, Lynn Vajnar, Anita Ottensmeier. THIRD ROW: Mr. Weinmann (sponsor), Kathy Weber, Eric Meyer, Stanley Hett, Roxanne Hague, David Magee, Kerry Domke, Greg Bowers. Through the leadership of President Myron Frans and Vice President Danny Steinel, one can surely say that Student Council proved to be a Council FOR the Students. Before the first day of school had begun StuCo was busy planning for the coming school year. StuCo proved to be hardworking from the first day of school by helping the faculty enroll the entire student body. Throughout the year StuCo presented lyceums that were entertaining and beneficial to the students. The StuCo got the Student Body into the Christmas Spirit by decorating the school at Christmas time and sponsoring a collection of food for two needy families. The food was brought by the students and the StuCo members separated, put into boxes and delivered it, while singing carols to the families. Again the StuCo showed their colors by pro- moting school-wide Warrior Spirit. But most students will agree that the most worthwhile project the StuCo carried out was the making of a Student Lounge FOR the STUDENTS. First of all, StuCo sponsored the Harlem Thrillers in order to have money for a room such as the lounge. But more than the money that went into the lounge, were the many hours of hard work spent in cleaning the room and planning the recreation for the lounge. All students were very appreciative toward the Council for such a project. As the end of school approached and student elections came up, the StuCo submitted new procedures for these elections so they could be run much more smoothly. The StuCo also updated their consitution by proposing new amendments to it and having the student body vote on them. As you can see, StuCo was quite active during the school year. Yet all StuCo members will agree that none of this could be possible without the guidance of our respected sponsor--Mr. Weinmann. 24
