The Warriors, coached by Dwayne Reusser, spent every night after school on the golf course practicing every- thing from physique and form to finding their lost balls. Because of this practice and interest, the boys did very well at all the golf meets. Out of ten meets, the two-man team received two first place, three second place, and one third place trophies. The four-man team received two first place, three second place, and three third place trophies. The people of this town as well as the students of Marion High School are equally proud of this year's golf team. Jntramural Zearns BIKES: (top left), Mr. Fruth-sponsor, T. Ingram, E. Cook, D. Magee, S. Wait, (bottom left), S. Hett, B. Guthrie, L. Lunderman. This year a new organiza- tion, under the sponsor- ship of Mr. David Fruth, the Intramural Basketball Teams, was added to our school. This consisted of four teams: The Bikes - captain-David Magee; The Jewels-captain- Myron Frans; The D. F. of M's-capta in-John Siebert; and The Gas Jockeys-captain-Gary Peoples. These teams played each other during a series of games on Monday nights. The season ended with a tournament declaring The Bikes as champions. JEWELS: (top left), M. Frans, G. Bowers, S. Because of the vigor ous training and the a 11-out-effort of the boys; the Warriors, out of ten meets, brought home two first-place trophies and four second-place trophies. Since the Warriors did so well in the Regional meet at Manhattan by taking second place, five boys were able to go on to the State meet at Salina and bring home a third place trophy. Besides the honor of so many placings in the various meets, Marion is equally proud of Warrior Gary Melcher, who now holds the state record in the discus of 161' 6 .
