FllllEW0llll With the passing of time, the echoes of our school life will grow fainter and fainter ancl then clie away like the school day memories of our grandparents. CLASS Kmc: F n CLASS PROPHECY As I gaze into the future, I see the Class of Marion High School, I957, as they will be ten years from now---I967. They are scattered over the face of the earth, and many have accomplished unusual things. LOOK WITH ME NOW- TEN YEARS INTO THE FUTURE. I see a large space ship with its sharp nose pointing toward the sky ready to pierce the atmosphere. It's called the Seaton Special. I hear that Roland Vogel, an expert on aircraft design, did most of the designing. Wade Robertson has lots of fun these days and makes money iust sitting around. Counterfeit, I'll bet! Bruce Coe is still in College training for the Army, or is it the Air Force? Say, you haven't heard anything until you've heard Hot- Lips Gardner blow his French trumpeti?i He has a show of his own on T.V. It's called the Gardner Trumpet Hour. I see that Deloris Schafers, who used to think she wanted to be a nurse, is now married, and she says she only wants to care for only one man. Frank Leuschaft had iust told the world his fabulous secret on how to keep warm at 40 below without a coat. I wish I knew! Pat Bixon, Johnsie Just, and Lowene Hiebert, have iust established the first colony for old maids. Their motto is Never give up hope. Wayne Bratton is now the Marion County Sheriff! It is nice to speed and not get caught. By the way, John Price is his deputy sheriff. Boy what a teaml The new F.F.A. teachers are Jon Thole and Willard Hett. lt sounds like Jon Thole is the boss. Poor Wf'lard! Bob Eckstrom, Dale Johnson, and Don McCarty and now co-owners in a baby diaper factory. What a business! I wonder if they can demonstrate them correctly. Well, look here! Joyce Pientka has a dress shop of her own. She sews and designs all the clothes she sells. A life of teaching English is what Margie Bernhardt is doing at the present. She says she rocks a couple of little blonds in her spare time. Harold Hein and Larry Olsen are running a new doughnut factory. The stuff the doughnuts with the holes from macaroni. Mary Lou Conyers is now living in Chile, or is it Cuba? Her husband is in the Navy, and he is stationed down there. Maxine Hinz is married and is now teaching school somewhere in Texas. I wonder if she found a rich Texan? Betty Mathews is the first woman ever appointed to the Supreme Court. She's the Justice, of course. Her appointment was to have the Supreme Court bench repainted. I hope it's pinkl Bill Burkholder is now running his own Conoco Station. Of course he is married to you know whom. Elda Pankratz has iust finished her internship at the Marion Hospital. She is very good at delivering babies. Big Deal! John Minear is now head football coach at Washburn, or is it K.U. ? I hear Margaret McClain is now a singer in some opera. Is it singing or howling? 'I5 Naive, ' Bernhardt - wills her ability to catch on to good lokes, fast, to Laurence Priddle 1' Boone to Judy Covey S Love Me Burkholder wills his ability to give and get his class ring often' to Paul Schmersey Jell-O,' Coe wills his ability of being Santa Claus to Tommy Shirley Well, not everyone has the ability Big Deal, Conyers - wills her liking for big modern A i a houses, lots of servants, and kids, to Virginia Miller ' ' Elvis, Bratton - wills his intense devotion for Pat .I . - I- - O . Handsome, Hiebert - wills her ability to know all the latest gossip to Arlene Hett. You have to eve's drop a little, Arlene. The Band has become a very active and progressive organiza tion. At the beginning ofthe year the Band had a carnival at the city building which gave the Band a big boost financially. One of the big high lights of the year was the Band party held out at the Dobb's School. The band added to the school spirit by playing for all the home football games and performing at the pre-game and halt time ceremonies. The Band has done many outstanding performances this year. The McPherson County Fair, Kansas State Fair, Cid Settler's Day, Labor Day at Florence, Band Day at Wichita University, Band Clinic at Florence, Spring Band Concert, and Music Contest at Emporia.
