Dear MHS Underclassmen: Most history is boring, we know. But we thought you would enjoy THIS history. At least read it and see. Four years ago a group of green (and I do mean GREEN) Freshmen entered MHS. The class consisted of: Carol Allen, Bob Bratton, Nova Bredemeier, Joy Burnett, Ann Davies, Pat DeWitt, Joe Dvorak, C. E. Ford, Kenny Gardner, Laurence Griggs, Dale Hamm, Bill Hammer, Pat Hart, Janis Hayward, Bob Hiebert, LaVern Hoffman, Nila Hoopes, Sam Jewett, Anita Kline, Leon Lais, Don Longhofer, Verlin Meier, Doris Melcher, Carolyn Merrill, Carol Miser, Rowena Olsen, Janet Priddle, Wanda Propp, Etta Rempel, Paul Roberts, Jerry Richards, Jack Rich- mond, Ray Richmond, Lloyd Sklenar, Elsie Smith, Jon Soyez, Noretta Starkey, Neva Stenzel, Lois Strong, Judy Thatch, Johnny Tuell, John Waner, and Johnny Williams. Our sponsor was Mr. Wiebe, and our president, Johnny Williams. We were thoroughly initiated and enjoyed a well-remembered hayrack ride and skating at Herington. Our Sophomore year we gained Charlotte Dody, Rosie Holub, and Shirley Scarbrough, while losing Noretta Starkey. Our sponsor was Miss Hovey; our president, R. J. Bateman. The high spot of the year was our maga- zine sales; the sides being captained by Carolyn Merrill and Johnny Tuell. Our Junior year began with the loss of Janis Hayward and Carol Miser. We made one gain. Bob Mehlinger. Mr. Wall and Mr. Yaussi were our sponsors, with Jerry Richards as our president. We presented Beauty and the Beef, which was enthusiastically received. The Junior- Senior banquet, Treasure Island was quite the best for a long time, and the scene painted under the direction of Mr. Wall received many compliments. We ended the year with a rousing hayrack ride. Remember, Seniors? Senior year at last! We gained Rena Gilley, at least for a little while, and Patsy Harris. Our losses were Doris Melcher, Shirley Scarbrough, and Lloyd Sklenar. We gave a most successful chili supper, led in participa- tion in athletics, and all clubs. As we go to press, still more outstanding things are being accomplished by the Class of '55. You just can't
