Class Hlslory In 1949 we started our career rn Mar1on Hlgh School wrth the followrng students Nancy Allen Jerry Brose john Summervxll Herbert Bartel Davld Wheeler Mrke Brodhead Peggy Hayward Shrrley Tlemerer Dlana Herbert Donnre Selbel janet Haney jackle Lars Shlrley Mayfleld Marvrn Wunsch Paullne Mlnear Floyd Baxter Larry Johnson john Hayen Myron jantz Don Burkholder Marvln Klrne Dean W1l lrams Gerald Tajchman Shlrley Stenzel Bobby Selbel Frances Sexbel james Rrchmond jerry Olsen Theodora Longhofer Clrfford jewett Ronald Herbel Dwlght Fruechnng Duane Fruechtlng Leola Druse Anrta Collet Harry Ambrose Later that year Clar ence Swartz jorned us but left before completrng the year Second semester we ga1ned Jay Frsher and lost Larry Johnson Almost the frrst actrvrty we partlcrpated ID was the Old Settlers parade We marched bravely down mam street wlth a banner pro clarmxng us the new Green Freshman On September 16 we became acquarnted wrth the student body at an all school party though If wasn t untrl October 14 that we were rnrtlated rnto hrgh school That nxght IS one we w1ll remember when other thrngs slrp from mlnd When we were freshmen we lost the frrst football game of the season after that we had a wrnnlng streak that lasted untxl we were Senlors On May 2 we had a fresh men p1cn1c chaperoned by our sponsors for that year Mr Wrebe and Coach Ireland On September 5 1950 our Sophomore year started We lost Janet Haney Peggy Hayward and Marvrn Wunsch and galned Bob Cook and Homer Mohn That was a year of happrness and sadness combmed We were busy all year and thoroughly enjoyed our actrvltres especlally those outsxde of the classroom On May 1 we had a class hay rack rlde that was really enjoyed by all Our sponsors for the year were Mrss Stewart and Coach Ireland At the close of thrs year a tragrc accndent took the llves of two students rn our class The whole school was saddened by thrs news Our class gravely felt the loss of Shlrley Mayfleld and Jackle La1s Our un1or year was a brg year and we really felt we were grown up havrng our lockers on the frrst floor We garned Thelma ean Selbel welcomed back Peggy hay ward and lost Cllfforcl Jewett Thrs year we started makrng money 1n earnest ant1c1pat mg our jr Sr Banquet Our banquet was wonderfully recerved by our guests the Senrors rts theme berng A Spanrsh Garden ln thls year we sponsored a movle enntled Brewsters Mllllons On November 12 we ordered our class rlngs and eagerly awalted thelr arrrval On November 30 we presented our unlor play Home Sweet Homrclde to a full house On May 15 we wound up the year wlth a hayrack r1de accompanied by our able sponsor Mlss Lucy Hovey Our last year rn M H S IS the best of all We lost Dlana Herbert and garned Genny Krch We are buster than ever and our frrst undertakrng was our Rocketshlp float rn the Old Settlers parade whrch won second prlze We had a skatrng party rn january and everyone had a very nrce tlme On February 19 the Senlors IH the one act plays went to Florence and presented the play Fog On the Valley rn the play fesnval We recelved a hrghly superlor rarrng Our next project was the Senror Carnlval on February 27 We had a very successful evenmg As the annual goes to press we are eagerly lookrng forward to the junror Senlor Banquet our Senror Play graduatron and frnally our Semor trrp As we look back we can say ours have been four happy years and although we are looklng to the future wrth hopeful eyes we w1ll be sad to leave our Marlon Hlgh , 9 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 3 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 ' Q 1 D 7 3 7 1 1 1 1 Y Y 3 7 ' - , . 1- 11 - 1 . . .1 11 . .
