As result of the class elections in September the following were chosen to serve as members of the Student Council: Freshmen, Georgia Christensen and H. J. Grovesg Sophomores, Coleen Vogel and Bill Griggsp Juniors, Mary Louise Tibbets and Jack Beastong Seniors, Ted Werts, Dorene Stenzel and Leon Hayen. Miss Thomas was appointed to be sponsor of this organization. In October an all school election was held to choose a senior, Leon Hayen, for president of the Student Council and a junior, La Verna Knight, for vice-president. La Verna will automatically become president next year. The Student Council has accomplished many things this year. Some of the most important are: l. Plans for High School Recreation Center a. Taken over as a project by the Senior Class 2. gale of War Stamps and Bonds to total the price of a jeep, 1165. a. Jeep to be called The Marion Warrior 5. Sale of War Stamps and Bonds to total 8129 every two weeks, the price of equipment of one infantryman. 4. Sponsored purchase of wall plaque as memorial to graduates and enrollees in the armed forces. 5. Sponsored assemblies for classes and faculty to take place during the last semester. Members of the Student Council this year have entered into their work wholeheartedly and have achieved a record worthy of commendation. 5 ll

We have lost some students and gained others with the result that we shall leave Marion High with as large a class as we were when we started. This class of 55 members is one of the larg- est and most energetic classes that has ever gone through Marion High. We hope that the faculty and the townspeople will be as proud of us as we have been in working with them.
