University of Iowa General Business Training 10 Our earth is degenerate in these latter daysg there are signs that the world is speedily coming to an endg bribery and corruption are commong children no longer obey their parents. Does this sound familiar? It was written by Confucious over 2400 years ago and doubtless has been said of every generation since then. Of one thing we can be sureg despite the threat of atomic annihilation so prevalent these days, the world will be here a long time after we are gone. I trust your high school education has been such that you will be better prepared to meet the prob- lems and challenges of your time. May the best of good fortune be your lot. C. B. Vernon Superintendent Though formal education may be completed for many of the members of this class, you should realize that you are just beginning the greater part of your learning, which is Education In Life. This education, unlike your high school work, will not come from textbooks but will be gained from your chosen occupation, your contacts with other adults, your community work and your friends. We, the faculty of Marion High, hope that we have given you the necessary background for this further education. Our success will be measured in terms of your success as worthy citizens of our American democracy. I am sure that all the fac- ulty joins me in wishing you the best of luck in your chosen pursuit. is Glen I. Nicholson Principal is sw BOARD OF EDUCATION .T. F. Gruenwald Jack Shinault G. E.
