Kathy Carter was one of ten area high school senior girls awarded the Daniel H. Brush Chapter of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizen Award. The senior class voted on the senior girls and the top three were then voted on by the faculty. Kathy received a pin from Mrs. Wil- liam Brown, DAR Good Citizen Chairman. Outstanding Students Of MHS The six outstanding students representing MHS at the Southern Illinois Society for High School Achievement were (left to right): Bill Yauch. Larry Sanders, Kathy Carter, Clay DeMattei, Wally Thurmond, and not pictured, Nina Bagby. These students were elected by the MHS faculty for their academic and service achievements. Janel Angell, sponsored by the American Legion Auxil- iary, was one of 528 girls in Illinois to attend Girls' State held June 11-18 at MacMurray College in Jack- sonville . Janel was elected Secretary of State under the Federalist party. 17
