Greenwood s ■ Outstanding Athlete Gary Childers Outstanding Senior Boy, Mark McWhorter 16 Kathy Carter was one of ten area high school senior girls awarded the Daniel H. Brush Chapter of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizen Award. The senior class voted on the senior girls and the top three were then voted on by the faculty. Kathy received a pin from Mrs. Wil- liam Brown, DAR Good Citizen Chairman. Outstanding Students Of MHS The six outstanding students representing MHS at the Southern Illinois Society for High School Achievement were (left to right): Bill Yauch. Larry Sanders, Kathy Carter, Clay DeMattei, Wally Thurmond, and not pictured, Nina Bagby. These students were elected by the MHS faculty for their academic and service achievements. Janel Angell, sponsored by the American Legion Auxil- iary, was one of 528 girls in Illinois to attend Girls' State held June 11-18 at MacMurray College in Jack- sonville . Student Council Sponsors Spirit Week The football team waits lor munchies to be served. 47 20th A nnual A ll Sports Banquet The 20th Annual All Sports Banquet was held on May 16 at the Marion Holiday Inn. The MHS Stage Band under the direction of Mr. Phil Eigenmann presented the music for the evening. MHS Athletic Director, Clarence DeMattei, gave a 20-year review of Marion High School Sports and Dutch Doelitzsch, President and General Manager of Radio Station WDDD, presented a 20-year review of Sports Coverage by Radio and Newspaper. The Bob Hudgens Dedicated Athlete Award was presented to Senior Clay DeMattei. Gary Childers was given special mention for lettering in four sports and Louis Lang was also recognized as being the first four-letter manager in the history of Marion High School. All Marion athletes, managers, and cheerleaders were mentioned as being involved in MHS Athletics.
