Cheryl Rix, Ann Feurer, and August Fowler Foreword ... and the years slip by until it is already time to acknowledge the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Memory Kit.” The name Memory Kit” was given in recognition of the kits” being packed for our American soldiers leav- ing for duty in World War I. It survived that era and each year has gone on to record the ever-changing faces, personalities, and activities in an ever-changing world. So it is, that with the 1968 Memory Kit one more chapter is added to a previous forty-nine. The success of the 1918 Memory Kit” is evident when that special look comes into the eyes of those class members as they glance back through their annuals. They remember the friends, the gathering places, and the good times as if they happened only yesterday. If, each time you drift slowly through these pages one year from now or fifty years from now, the memory of an old friend, a great team, or a special dance deepens in value, then we, the 1968 Memory Kit” staff, will know our en- deavors have been successful. With Sincere Appreciation MR. ORLAND STANLEY To you, Mr. Orland Stanley, we wish to pay a special tribute for your 47 years of dedicated service to education. As a teacher, a principal, curriculum supervisor, and as superintendent, you have had the oppor- tunity to see and be a leader in many changes in school organization. You have been a part of an educational program that has evidence of great improvement. You have lived to see the time when people with an education have truly drawn recognition in the eyes of the public. You have excelled in a most difficult task of keeping a balance between the educational program and the economic con- ditions. You have stayed in the profession so long, because you stated that you never saw a child you didn’t like. You contribute your success as an educator to your home-life and the guidance and encourage- ment of your wonderful parents. If you could recall your life, you would only strive to be a master teacher— Make good things better.” For your devoted contribution to education, the annual staff of the Golden Anniversary” edition, wishes you many years of happiness in your retirement. 3
