Senior Counselor Guidance Department The Guidance Department at Marion Senior High School consists of The Director of Guidance Services and two other full time Counselors. The student-counselor ratio goal of 300:1, as recommended by The State Department of Guidance, has been reached at the senior high level. An additional service has been added to the guidance depart- ment. The Director of Guidance was appointed The Voca- tional Counselor by the state office, and he must work with all vocational students in the various vocational departments in the high school. Guidance serves as a liaison between student needs and school objectives. The department is a service branch of education rather than an instructional unit. The department renders its services to the students through school, parent, and community relationships. The major functions of the department are student per- sonnel services, Cpersonal and socialj a unified testing program beginning in the elementary schools and contin- uing through senior high school, occupational information services and career data, pre-registration and educational placement, and student attendance and drop-outs.
