The gym was beauti- fully decorated in a very Frenchy color combination of blue and black with the Eiffel Tower com- pleting the picture. A gala evening it was as they danced to the music of Louis Dale and his orch- estra. The Sophomore Class officers were Judy Smith, President; Linda Cooksey, Vice-President; Linda Troxel, Secretary-Treasurer; and Mr. Gene Ward Walker and Miss Mary Arford, sponsors. The Freshman Class officers were Frank DeMonsi, President; Judy Hudgens, Vice-President; Melinda Federer, Secretary- Treasurer; and Mrs. Mary Barker and Mr. Clarence DeMatti, sponsors. May 18, 1956, marked an innovation as far as Marion's prom was concerned. It was the first all night affair. The dance theme of Underwater Fantasy was authentically carried out. Draping the walls were fish nets filled with paper fish while the center of attraction was an underwater castle. Mrs. Martha Har- mon and Mr. Clay Hunter were Junior sponsors. The Marion Elks and Shriners assisted by the V.F.W. and American Legion entertained the Juniors and Seniors at a premiere showing of The Birds and the Bees at the Orpheum. As a climax to a wonderful night there was more dancing and refreshments at the Elks Club. 81 LOVE IS IN THE AIR is a delightful comedy with o different accent. Since Tarkington's SEVENTEEN, there have been hundreds of plays written about teen-agers' problems. But in these plays the tolerant, more-or-less patient parents have endured and waited for time to solve their problems. In LOVE IS IN THE AIR, the Truitt children—Gladys, 19, Clarence, 17, Maggie, 13—feel that all is not well with them. They are not satisfied with the way their affairs are going with Roscoe, Jackie, and Beannie, respectively. Maggie convinces the others it's the Truitt Jinx. They go into a huddle and decide that their troubles are caused by their parents who have lost their romantic appeal. Clarence lectures his father, and Maggie opens her mother's eyes to the foct that she is not aware that it is almost too late. This Operation Romance is so successful that both parents and children can report mission accomplished.
