During the parade that afternoon the judges selected the Senior Class float as the winning float. Second prize went to the w Dramatic Club, and third prizes were awarded to the Pep and F. B. L. A. Clubs. That evening the Wildcats lost to Mt. Ver- non. To climax the day Judy Leach was crowned queen by Dale Harris. Music was provided by Tommy Lawson and his orchestra. IDANT LOOEEN KELLER AND . ESdbRl JOE WALL ihambless ai 'RT RICHAl LINDA COOKSEY WD J tf NIE BARNETT EY DEATON 'Ike The night of April 23, 1954 was the annual Freshman - Sophomore Hop. The theme so beautifully carried out was Stardust. The couples danced to music furnished by Ernie Limpus and his orchestra. The Freshman officers and sponsors were Larry Feurer, Shirley Darter, Ann Morgan, Mrs. Mildred Wil- mouth, and Mr. R. W. Howard. The Sophomore officers and sponsors were Nancy Hall, DeAnn Fergus, Stuart Bursfein, Miss Marie Kern, and Mr. Robert Wiggs. P'lom JF w On May 21, 1954 the Junior Class was host to the annual Prom given in honor of the graduating class. The theme Mardi Gras was carried out authentically with streams of crepe paper, balloons, and paper masks. The very dance- able music was provided by Ernie Limpus and his orchestra. The committee chairmen and class sponsors responsible for this memorable event were Louise Turnage, Kay Garrison, Carole Chambless, Claire Rush- ing, Judy Leach, Mrs. Filomena Raich, and Mr. Maurice Russell. JUNIOR PLAY CAST (Left to Right): Grandmother Barnes, Gayle Guerin; Oswald Drew, Phillip Norman; Kay Barnes, Sue Kelley; Nito Barnes, Sandra Deaton; Frank Eostup, Jack Herren; Lillie the Lynx, Edith Bankston; Archie the Sapper, Donald Ray; Eli Barnes, Richard Nitterauer; Ellen Barnes, Wanda Minton; Gertie Sims, Julia Gibbon; Hamilton Barnes, Bob Boyt; a Reporter, Frances Cox; an Officer, Ed Stephens. The Junior Class Play for 1954-1955 was titled Moonlight and Applesauce. This light comedy welded the elements of comic situation, love affairs, and mysterious criminals skulking about into a sparkling plan that kept the audience guessing to the very end. Eli and Ellen Barnes, with their daughters Kay and Nita, and thin shrewd Grandmother are involved in this plot. Eli's invention — an apple deseeder — was stolen, causing a frantic, violent search for a gas conserver by Archie and Lillie. A break-up occurred between Kay and Oswald, Nita and Frank. Apprehension of the criminals and right partners returned to partners climaxed the play, along with the discovery of the stolen diamonds in the gas conserver. SENIOR PLAY Buy Jupiter, a clever comedy, was put on by a cast of seniors as their class play for 1955. All of the action in the play takes place in a foyer between the toy and sporting goods departments of Joyce's Department Store in New York City. Kay Linsey, head of the toy department, is attempting to forge her way into the business world. Betty, Kay's younger sister, and Joe Burns, the stockroom boy, are trying to help Kay, but can only manage to get themselves and everyone involved in awful predicaments. Jupiter, the talking rabbit, who really is as silent as a mute, is high-pressured on Kay by Fizz Foster, a fast talking con-man. After Mrs. Joyce is let down by Jupiter, while exhibiting him at a Children's Bazaar, Kay receives her pink slip ; but Hank Hughes saves the day by rejuvenating Jupiter and causing customers to clamor to buy him.
