GRADUATING CLASS While we have used the above expression many times, at commencement season, since this bank was organized, we never said it with more sincerity that we say it on this graduation day in 1957. Today, the graduates of the class of 1957 have reached an important milestone in their lives. There will be other important milestones, but today will always stand out in memory as one of the happiest and most satisfying ones. As you look forward to and plan for still other important milestones during your span of life, please let us call attention to the fact that the bank in your community often times will be of real service to you in helping you to achieve these milestones. In fact, this bank has, for considerable more than half a century, been helping young people in this community and through- out this area achieve goals which they have set for themselves. Banks are a bit peculiar in this matter---they had always rather be of service to those they know than to strangers and, when you think about it, that is no peculiarity at all. That's just a plain, practical, everyday application of good old horse sense. Banks do not ordinarily do very much business with those they do not know. That is the main reason why banks insist upon young people making a banking connection early in life. Such a connection usually works out in a way that is profitable both to the bank and to the customer. On this, your graduation day, we ask you to think about that a little bit and reason out in your own thinking just why that does make sense. And now, once again, we would like to offer our congratula- tions to you on your graduation day, and, at the same time, extend you a cordial welcome to visit this bank or call upon us at any time when we can be of service.
