I have followed the seaways and the airways to the familiar places and to the strange ports of call all around the world. I am a 20th century Marco Polo. All the great characters of literature have come alive for me, transmuted from the printed page to men of flesh and blood. I have heard and watched Chopin, Mozart, and Johann Strauss compose their ageless melodies. All the best in music has been brought to my ears. I was with MacArthur on the battleship Missouri. I attended the sessions of the United Nations. I was at the Paris conference. I will be at the next Olympic Games. I am informed of the world of today, for I am present on all great occasions and at all great events. Good fortune has brimmed my cup. No man before me was ever so richly endowed or more fortunate. Again, we want to extend our sincere congratulat- ions and good wishes to a Marion High School Graduat- ing Class. Someone has said that there is power in education-------power for better living, for earning more money, for greater enjoyment of life: but there is more than power in education. Education is a part of life itself when properly acquired and judiciously used and no one can measure the contribution which the high school graduating classes of America are, from year to year, making to and for a better way of life in this country. While getting an education, please do not over look the fact that banks have a vital part in the life and least, indirectly, in the education of the young people of the land. For that reason, if for no other---------but there are many reasons also---------you should, early in life, come to know and make friends with those who work in and are interested in the bank in your community.
