In spite of a few minor obstacles, the Marionette staff kept the student body informed on sports, club news, and happenings around the school. In order to allow more cooperation by students, the staff borrowed themes from various English classes. 54 Through the yearbook, the Hylander staff mem- bers attempted to tell the story of Marion High School’s last year. With new innovations they strived to carry on some of the traditions of former annuals. Staff members also sold advertisements which aided in the finance of the Hylander. Mrs. Lindsey Mrs. Davis - _ jos . ss yeasts e ee a Mrs. Homewood 166 Mrs. Morris From the Editors A high school emerged and was now getting ready to face another change. Through the past 167 pages, an emphasis was placed on the student: for he was the high school, He made it what it was and what it would be. As we, the editors. sit in this lite room which came to be so much of our lifes it is hard to remember back to that first day in September, when we drew up our first page. At that time there were plenty of pencils, layout forms, and copy sheets. Now the pencils are worn down and il is next lo impossible to find a copy page. Now that the book is finished and the room is quiet: we can see that the Hylander was more than just pictures and copy. IL was people. From that first meeting to that last week we worked so hard. Many times it must have seemed to the staff, like there were witches running the book instead of editors. All the staff ever heard was “Do it over, you know when the deadline is.” Special thanks were due a great staff, those who stepped in at the last and those who stayed ull the end. Whether they were faced with working in limited space, finding oul who hundreds of people were or sorting thes many students portraits; the staff showed dedication to a common goal. Large medals of honor go to Mr. Robert Howell for his support and endless calls to Chesnee, S.C.’ To Mr. Max Gee, school photographer, and MarjoriesNoyes, Pam Pugh, and Margaret Hawes for their unbelievable hours of work. And also to Lydia Hagna, Beverly Glenn, Marie Morris, Lynne Goodson, Jan Bolick, and Terry Poteat for be : ¢ dD . a . . their work on organizations and copy. And three very special awards to Doug Johnson and Tommy Wilson for their work with the art, and:to David Miller who golaway with so much Mr. Howell will never Know about. And nol least of all Lo MHS for being just like it was, the best school in the world. Now that the end was in sight, the long hours, late evenings, and all week-end sessions seemed worthwhile. Those who have seen the Hylander room and wondered what went on would never know what they missed — a ereal experience, Robert Burgin Bobby Roberts Lest Forget = ie ao x cage Se Pa?
