Key Club In 1964-65 the Key Club of Marion High School has enjoyed one of its more profitable years, in the way of service rendered, and in creating character and leadership. This leading service club has always endeavored to find a service project which will benefit the school and community. Its leading project is the annual toy drive which was conducted very success- fully this year. Not only do the boys repair the toys for orphans but also buy clothes for them. A new project was undertaken this year by the Key Club. As suggested by the National Key Club Council, Teenage Day, in which high school students were elected to town office, was held. The Key Club is con- stantly striving to serve others, promote higher ideal s in scholarship, and sportsmanship, and aid its school and community in any possible way. The purpose of this organization is to stimulate, encourage, and reward scholarship, leadership, servuce, and character. It is all these four quality points that faculty members vote on the eligibility of a prospectiv ' e member. Candidates must have spent at least one semester at Marion High School and have a scholastic average of not less than ninety per cent over a period beginning with the ninth grade. These new members are inducted in the spring in one of the most impressive ceremonies held at Marion High School during the year. The National Honor Society is sponsored in our school by Mrs. Kate Lindsay. Officers: Vice-President, Bill Laughridge; Treasurer, Eddie Gouge; Secretary, Nancy Henline; President, Lola Foster. 30
