Having fallen in love with two handsome African head-hunters, we are going on this cross-country jaunt to meet them at the Grand Canyon, Wk- were very hospitably received by our old classmates, Wayrie Glad- clen and Ciarthel' Cfuthbertson, co-owners of The Mutt and 'Jeff Hangover. That night we were entertained at a grand shindig in the basement of the hotel where the sweet strains of Howl and Complain with Ike McLlain struck us as we entered the door. Featured with this band ofirenown was Nina Stroud, the hot-to-go pian- ist. After we had indulged in a few tocldies, the Carrigan Sisters, Jana and Elvera sang a few numbers Startled by a commotion behind us, we saw the bouncer CQ. A. lfrick was having a dab of trouble with weight-lifter, XY'ayne Bradburn, who insisted on wrapping Delano Shook around the light poles. XVhen he found that Delano was an Ii. B. I. agent, he became a meek man, dropped him, and left. Our attention was then abruptly attracted by the floor-show composed of Mary Nell Tilly, Loretta Silvers, Aileen Davis, Maxine Davis, Barbara Lewis, Mildred Lonon, Joyce Young, Edith Wfilson and Betty Jean Rumfelt, The Happy Go Lovely Girls. During the entertainment, we were offered cigarettes by the cigarette girl, Vera Murdock. She almost floored the hat-check girl, Donaline Sartain, who was bringing an invite from Bobby Morris, Keith Pooser and Ronnie Ross, who were auttioning off all their worldly goods in a big sale the next day because it was necessary for them to make a trip up the river. XY'hen we returned to our room, we found television provided by the manage- ment. Shirley Gibson, Barbara Turner, Betty Allison, Mary Ellen Moody and Janette Mace were appearing on the XY'eel-:ly Housewives Program sponsored by Old Maids Anonymous. The next morning we all piled on buses provided by the Break Down Bus Linen owned by David Patterson and lirank Wlright. Auction bound, on the bus we discovered Polly Seagle with her famous Toni twins. Across from us sat the famous model listher Poole and her agent Bctty Ann Bright. In the back of the bus we could hear an excited discussion from Bc-tty Jo Pyatt, Jimmie Ruth Burnette, and Lillian Parkins on their prospects of finding new pots and pans at the auction. lt scemed like old times when Bill Roland, Garland Higgins, Robert Ciondrey and Buddy Austin started a little niusit to wake up the passengers with hang-overs. lfleanor Grayson, the rich bobbie-pin heiress, was airing her furs out the windows, Coming within hearing distante, we heard Dean Henline starting the auction in well paid manner. Selling anything and ex erything, The first purchase, which was 100 lbs. of glue, was made by Jatkie Hewitt, the author of The Life of a Gun Moll , famous for its illustrations by Jane Shililet. The swoon-bait of the current movies, Donald lflliott and Doug Mtfiras, were earnestly searching for new make-up kits, Startled by the honking of horns, we turned to see Clarence Metcalf and Johnnie Pyatt, our bus drivers, trying in vain to stop Dorothy Anderson, Ruby Taylor, and Ann Styles from tap dancing in the middle of the road. We saw Mary Lou Beaman browsing around in every corner hoping to find a piano for her concert tour of lfurope. She finally tound the one used by Barbara l'isher and Martha Steppe in their Charity floor-show in Stuinptown Beer Parlour. Barbara Black, Lucille Havnes and Ruth Ann Tucker, stars of the California Dribblers, were seen looking foribasketballs with -orlon inner-tubing. Arnold Pyatt was also seen breezing around looking for a suitable helmet to wear on his next expedition to Ethiopia. . I joby Smith came running up so delighted with the antique furniture she had found to furnish her special box at The Yankee Stadium where she and her husband spend most of their time. About that time Roy Steppe, Ralph Hawkins, Bobby Dun- can, and Guy lfllis came around with their hot-dog push carts which we hear is a very prosperous business. Over in the corner we saw jerry Young and Harold XY'arren fighting over a pair of polkardottecl shorts which they bought to wear in their Broadway hit Ladies Prefer Polka-Dots , produced and directed by Sid -lohnston and Mickey Poteat. We saw Sybil Minnish and her agent Maw e .ondrey, who are just back from entertaining the troops over-seas. XVe saw -Iewell Finley and Mary Gouge in the pantry searching for unusual salt and pepper shakers for their collection. Minnie jane Bowman went along with all the men to find a pup tent with which to set up housekeeping as a missionary in India. Zelda Anderson and Mary Buff, just like tlie typical woman, were looking for new hats. Over on the hill we heard hounds baying, horns blowing and shot-guns blast- ing. A calm spectator assured us it was only Max XVall, Arnold lfreshour, Roger jimison, Wfilburn Huffman, anl B ll' Pal ' i ' e ' ' ' they are so fond. We heard a lo trying out his new gavel. Sybil Seagle, the lovely Ajax girl was buying all the soap available. Burrell Arrowoocl and Ray Huffman, the great industrialists of the c uccy j cy on one ot the coon hunts of -which ud thumping on one of the tables as Senator Hubert Martain was ' a e, were in the market for special thread which they use in the manufacturing of burfiip sacking. The fabulous playboy jim Ricks was seen with his charming wife who is his fifth try. They were shopping for the large economy size yacht. Later we heard that the cops Mobby Miller and Harbery Lee were having trouble with Red McKinney and -lack Sprinkle. They were trying to steal pink bath-tubs. As the auction went on it j . ,. .. , . .
