RICHARD MILNES DEDICATIO To every person come the blessings of unselfishness, loyalty, honor, interest in others, the sense of duty, devotion to that which is right, abhorrance to that which is Wrong, the will to do with no thought of self, the ability to lose as if it were pleasing, to win as if used to it, to give oneself to a task and do it well. But only to the user of these comes the peace and satisfaction of a life well lived. And so, we, the Hylander Club of 1950 dedicate this annual to the possessor and user of these virtues, Mrs. Kate Finley. 3 Administrative Qfficcrs HUGH BEAM S1llJI'l'ilIfl'l1ll!'l1f of Ci!-1' Srlwols HIQLEN BEAM SMARR S!'l'l't'flIl'J' fo S11ju'1'i1zif'ml011f CHARM-.5 C. LAXVRI-NCI-. Foremost in the minds of the up-to-date, interested citizens are the latest develop- ments of jet planes and atom bombs. Foremost in the minds of Marion High School is the Senior Class of 1950. Being the first post-war class, we, like the atom bomb, held a decided advantage, and like these latest inventions, we set our pace in 1949 when we, as green, eager eighth graders, entered into what was to be five full, happy years as high school students. This fast-moving atomic-age class has held its own in the way of heroes, honor students, star athletes and all around good sports. Honors too numerous to mention have been ours through these years and now, we are ready to take these, our only effects, out into our own individual worlds. During 1949 and 1950, we eighty-four, seniors all, worked through our final year at Marion High under the able leadership of Alvin Rader, Becky Hemphill, Glynn Lambeth, and jack XY'ingo, our class officersg and other leading scholars. NY'e solemnly trust that we leave this school, not as we found it, but all the better for our efforts. XY'e find that the school bids us farewell, not as it found us, but much the wiserg much the better prepared for our lives aheadg and very grateful for all it has meant to us. XVe shall never forget, nor ever for one single moment regret this time we spent in our Alma Mater, Marion High School. We c.1n't say what the teachers thought of us, but we were determined to conquer or be conquered. As Sophomores we found our place in the wheels of the High School activities. W'e were faced with new responsibilities in the band, different clubs and on the football and basketball teams. When we reached our Junior year we became more active than ever before. We were confronted with the problem of entertaining the Senior Class of 1950 with a banquet of our own planning. We juniors, like the Seniors, also have our share of honor students, star athletes, and all around good sports. As our leaders through this crucial year we chose jimmy Ellis as our presidentg Laura Keeter, vice-presidentg Ruth Poole. secretaryg and Harold Mask, treasurer. XVe are all proud of our exceptionally fine class, and we hope that We can be a credit to our school in the years to come. IUNIORS AT if 9 ' TV. 1172 ' 'S' n L 'u an MARION HIGH SCHOOL 1, .
