the class entered the Armed Forces: Guy Nichols, Jr., Zelotes Finley, Jack Goode, and William Stanley . . . The climax of the year came when we entertained the Senior Class of '46 at the Junior-Senior Banquet. This was an occasiot long to be remembered, as it was the first really big event of our own planning since entering High School. Now at last we have reached that cherished last year. Sixty-one out of a former class of ninety-nine have become Seniors, dignified or otherwise. At the beginning of the year we chose as our representatives: Lynn Crawley, President, Betty Lou Banks, Vice-President, Ruby Byrd, Secretary, and Robert White, Treasurer. To add to our prestige and honor these seniors: Frances Pool, Margaret Atkins, Glenn Mur- dock, and Betty Hope Gibson were elected into the National Honor Society . . . Our football team, mainly Seniors, won a much-deserved v. if re L 1 Il I A.. ie N - A T W JUDY NORMAN MASCOT 'D' Y, M M 3' 413: :.r f PATRICK LOGAN MASCOT second place in the Western Conference. We had many outstanding players on the team, such as Dean Padgett who gained a position on the All-State team, Lynn Crawley, Bill Burleson, and Fuzz England played outstanding ball the entire season. At the beginning of the year, to our great joy, lights and steel bleachers were in- stalled on the football field and we enjoyed a privilege not before permitted at Marion High School - night football games. The performance of the High School Band, of which many mem- bers are seniors, added pleasure to the games. lt has all meant a great deal to us, the fun and even the hard work, and so it is not with- out regret that we say goodbye to Marion High School. May the remainder of our years be as happy. Our teachers have set an admir- able example for us by their unselfishness and sincere devotion to duty and we shall always remember them as friends and helpers in our High School days. -13
