That was the day when we first came to high school. We were, with- out a doubt, the most excited and the greenest bunch of freshmen to have ever entered this school. XVe seemed to be everywhere at once and yet we were not in the right place. Finally, our kind, con- siderate teachers came to our rescue and helped us find our way around. After that, with the help of the upperclassmen we were able to go through the year in high spirits until, on the account of the laps, we had to give up one of our best teach- ers, Coach Walters, to the Army Air Force. This gave us a more serious out- look and we began to study harder and think about becoming Sophomores. OF THE SENIOR CLASS We returned the next year to start our duties as Sophomores. With most of the green worn off we made a good start by electing as our leaders: Charles Mask, President, Ruth Byrd, Vice-President, Zane Dalton. Secretary, and Betty .lo Flack, Treasurer. We were now feeling like a part of the high school since we had com- pleted one year. Again this year we were called upon by Uncle Sam to give up our friend and principal, Mr. Holland, to the U. S. Navy, but we were very fortunate in getting Mr. Poole to take his place. With his guidance we struggled through this year dreaming of being juniors. Now our dream had come true. We were leading the life of juniors. We really lived up to our name of being jolly and having fun. We took important places in
