Come Out of the Closet A gloomy apartment in a house on Twenty-Second Street in New York City was the scene of thrills, chills, and excitement, as the Senior class presented its production of Come Out of the Closet , a mystery-comedy in three acts. The play was presented to a large audience on April I7-IS, in the Marion High Auditorium. Mrs. Malone, the Irish landlady, played by Ruth Scholten, kept things iumping for her three tenants from Ohio, Ann Schulz as Hilda Hawkins, competent and forthright, Eleanor Gullion as lrene Gleason, a somewhat scheming girl, and Anne Dye as Jenny Potts, naive and appealing. The girls' sleep was forever interrupted by Mr. Cutter, the man who shared their kitchen, played by Marvin Winters, and by Guthrie Rosewater, the counterfeiting poet and his accomplice, Abbie Phillips, portrayed by Bobby Estep and Mary Shumate. The case is solved by George Hanson, lrene's fiance, portrayed by Jimmy Atkins, Hercules Jones, a taxi-driver, enacted by Joe Hall, and Sweeny, a near- sighted cop, played by Tom Davis. Miss Carroll Lee Ferrell and Mr. Sherman Dutton were directors, with Mary Linda Jones and Charles Millard as student directors. Other members of the senior class served on various committees.
