.-av'- i EDDIE SHUMATE At the beginning of the 1950-'51 term our hearts were made heavy when our school mate, Eddie Shumate, was struck by polio. We experienced many anxious hours during those first two weeks in October, and the question foremost in the minds of everyone was How's Eddie getting along? As the weeks went by, we were encouraged as he began winning the battle, even though he was in an iron lung. We missed his smiling countenance in the halls and classrooms, his athletic ability on the ball fields, and his presence at all school functions. We marvel at the spirit Eddie has shown and we are proud that we have had the honor to associate with him during our school life.
