Top Ten ofthe Class of'68 Salutatorian Leora Fewless and Valedictorian Kate Bertal receive their collars of highest achieve- ment from Carol Patterson. Receiving their honors are: Susan Moes, Kathy Vokes Kathie Johnson, Lavina Alberts, Shirley Sherman, Sue Luse, Sally Meyer, and Vickie Patterson. I6 1968 CLASS HISTORY The 1968 Graduating Class entered 7th grade in 1962. We were greeted by Mrs. Hazen, who 'sponsored the 36 member class. The first homecoming float was The jetson's . In the spring of '63, our Michigan Government Class took a trip to the capitol. Our first year of junior high school ended with the class being 53.98 in the red. In 1963, our class shrunk to 30 members. Our'class sponsor was Mr. Soper. Starting high school with 54 members, our class was led by Mr. McCrimmon and Mr. Johnson. Kathie Johnson was elected president, Vickie Patterson, vice-president, Georgia Budd, secretary, and Kathy Vokes, treasurer. Our homecoming candidate was Georgia Budd, escorted by Rick Mosher. Our float entitled Surrey with the Fringe on Top , won second place. Our prom candidate, Kathy Vokes, was chosen princess. President Steve Warren and his command, consisting of vice-president, Greg Mar- tinson, secretary, Leora Fewless, and treasurer, Mike Outman, led the sophomore class of 49 students. Marilyn Hoekwater, homecoming candidate, was elected queen and was escorted by Mike Outman. The float Robinson Crusoe failed to win any honors. Mr. Rippee and Mr. Calder, our sponsors that year, helped with the ice-cream social. jerry Lee was guest of honor on a Naval cruise and Susan Luse received an Army Medical Award. Mary Lou Krchmar, prom candidate, was elected princess. Our junior class sponsors were Miss Miller and Mrs. johnson. The 46 members of the class were governed by president Marilyn Hoekwater, vice-president, Richard Mosher, secretary, Yvonne Richardson, and treasurer, David Rockafellow. The Constitutional Convention for Student Council convened during our junior year. Representatives from the class were Mary Lou Krchmar, Marilyn Hoekwater, Rick Mosher, and Garry Kemp. The money-making project for the year was a chicken supper. The homecoming can- didate was Yvonne Richardson and Rick Mosher was her escort. The float, Venice , won first place. Susan Luse and Kate Bertal placed first and second, respectively, in the Dis- trict and Regional Extemporaneous Speaking Contest. The prom queen candidates were Joyce Gingrich and Diane Fewless. The senior year started with 43 members. Mrs. Morgan, Miss Goetsch, and Mr. Lithen were class sponsors. Dave Rockafellow was elected president, Peg Blackledge, vice- president, secretary, Yvonne Richardson, and treasurer, Mike Outman. Our homecoming float, Fairyland , won first place for beauty. Our candidate was Lavina Alberts who was escorted by Reggie I-lulliberger. Four members of the senior class were elected Student Council officers. They were Garry Kemp, president, Vickie Patterson, vice-president, secretary, Marilyn Hoekwater, and Mary Lou Krchmar, treasurer. Class representatives were Kate Bertal and Steve Warren. Members of our class that have received special recognition this year are as follows: Kate Bertal, valedictorian and D.A.R. Good Citizen, Leora Fewless, salutatorian and Homemaker of Tomorrow, George McCrimmon, All Conference offensive tackle and defensive linebacker, Dave Rockafellow, All Conference offensive halfback, Mike Outman, All Conference defensive end, Steve Warren, captain of basketball team and on the All Conference squad, Yvonne Richardson, editor of the MHS ECHOES, and Shirley Sherman and Garry Kemp, co-editors of the EAGLETON. The money maker of the year was the slave-sale. The prom theme was Moonlight and Roses and our candidates were Sue Mitchell and Peg Blackledge. Dress-up day was May 2 and slop day was May 3. The senior trip was june 3 when we traveled to Mackinaw Island. Baccalaureate was held on June 2 at two-thirty in the high school gymnasium.
