K P Cdtjfaij- . Bw, Roger Sharp MTA President, Roger Sharp, didn't spend many of the days of the teach- ers' strike picketing. He spent them in jail. Sharp, along with seven other strike leaders, were sentenced to jail on charges of contempt of court. Sharp was disappointed about being sentenced to jail, but was pleased with the support that was shown by teachers and parents. It boosted our morale, he said. Robert Philb ert Robert Philbert, a member of the so- cial studies department and former M.T.A. president, was one of the eight leaders to be jailed for contempt of court. Philbert expressed appreciation for the support the jailed leaders got from students and teachers that picketed outside the jail. lt made me feel like what I was going through was worth- while, he remarked.
