,QI - 'f---- ueen, Prmeesses Presented Relay Awards As part of the annual sport's activities, the 1967 Marion Relays were held April 15th. Coach Oatess Ar- chey clocked times and measured jumps as his Giant team collected their share of the prizes. Several letter- men returned, including Doug Brown, Howard John- son, Larry Rankins, Gary Brendel, Alan Miltenberger, Roger Brewer, Edward Dixon, and Harvey Cox. High hurdles, races, and relays were only a portion of the fourteen contests participated in by visiting and Ma- rion athletes. Mississinewa and Oak Hill were two of the Grant county visitors, while Hartford City, El- wood, and Muncie South came from outside of the county. Starting the day at 1:00 with trial runs, Freshmen athletes participated in high hurdles and a 100 yard dash. The finals started at 1:55, as the varsity team ran four different medleys. Various dashes and relays followed. Performing its annual duty of boosting the team and of presenting ribbons to the winning Marion athletes, the Relay Court consisted of Queen candi- dates Cathe Earle, Linda Shipley, and Suzi Shortg Ju- nior Attendant Karen Riddleg Sophomore Attendant Cathy Smith, and Freshman Attendant Chris Woodard. Brought back after a year's absence, the Coronation Ball was held on April 14th. The Epics of Fort Wayne provided the music for the reigning court and other dancing couples.
