gives us 2 ew perspective Nervously waiting backstage lor that cue, being care- lul not to smear that make-up, and hoisting scenery around on the shoulder are all part ol' the theatre life ol Nlarion High. Students found that participating in dramatic presentations lor the school gave them a new method ol' sell'-expression and helped to build and broaden their views on the complex lile as teen-age students. The all-school play, Uliabbling Brooks , included many in its presentation. There was the acting, ol' course, but several others took part in the production by work- ing backstage - painting scenery, operating the lights, sewing costumes, or applying make-up. The play provided an outlet lor ability in several dil- lerent helds. Dramatic talents, art ability, direction, and production prac'tic'e were all expressed when Uliabbling Brooks was presented. Nlr. Miller led the thespians and other workers in presenting the successful production ol' the all-school play, --liabbling Brooks . This was one of the funny plots which made up the play.

The production took place on the Marion High auditorium stage which was transformed into the Xlisl western plains country with the use of estensixe scenery ami props. lti s A W rk behind the scenes til 4-firms.. , W E rss. ttyl 'liring hours ol rehearsal, sewing huttons on old denim shirts, learning the words to a hundred songs. and painting scenery typihed the endless eflort put into the stage production ol the operetta, Oklahoma , presented this spring hy the Illtlsit' department. Openings nights ol Xlarch ll and I5 hrought Iorth all the excitement and anticipation that had collected through the several weeks ol rehearsal in the lorm ol an excellent musical. Nlrs. Nleily directed the production in its entirety. liveryone enjoyed the songs ol' the famous operetta such as Oklahoma , Oh XVhat a lleautilul Morning , and Surrey With a Fringe On Top . The scenery was heauti' lully done, and costumes very colorlul.
