CARL RUSSELL GOSSETT Spanish Club Treasurer, Senior Class President, Hi-Y This yearis graduating class en- tered M.H.S. as Sophomorcs in Sep- tember 1946. Under the able lead- ership of president, Clyde james, vice president, Rex Garrg secretary, NVilma Bakery and treasurer, Betty Comerg they sold chances on a radio given away at the Cactus Miss Ethel A. Renbarger Frolic. As in the previous years the class of 49', decorated the Christ- mas tree in the front hall. The ex- cited newcomers elected as their candidates for Easter Parade at- tendants: Rita Fightmaster, Jo- sephine Todd, Beverly Hubbard, Linda Pierson, and Sally Ramp. The following year, now as juniors, the class elected Bob Conn, president: Tom Deal, vice presi- dentg Drake Circle, treasurer, and Nlifilma Baker, secretary. For this year's project, pencils with basket- ball schedules on them were sold. For their contribution to entertain- ment they held an after game dance at the Y. M. C. A. This year they elected as their candidates for Easter Attendantsg Marcia Mc- Greevy, Betty Comer, Leona Ramp, Barbara Moon, and Pat Armstrong. The highlight of the Junior year was the annual junior-Senior Prom with Evelyn Walls presiding as queen. At last the students came back as Seniors. Acting with superiority over the under-classmen, they elected to fill their wishes, Carl Gossett, president: Bob Conn, vice president: Barbara Moon, secretary, Don Gunion, treasurer. Many senior cords could be seen roaming the halls, this adding only to the misery of the new Sophomores. During Courtesy six weeks the class sponsored a program on this sub- ject. Acting along with the Stu- dent Council various senior com- mittees helped with their all school dance. Chairmen appointed for the various committees were social, Pat Nallyg commencement, Alice Can- trill: service, Betty Comerg cap and gown, Mary liowlerq publicity, Bob S li a f fe r g baccalaureate, Robert Shirarg financial, Don Guniong and invitations, Pat Armstrong. The graduating class was repre- sented this year for the Easter Pa- rade by Linda Pierson, june Doles, and Glenda Stiles. It is to the vari- ous sponsors, Miss Marion Bread- heft, Mr. Elbert Tillett, Miss Mild- red Aveline, Mr. W'illard Batson, Miss Marjorie Connelly, and Miss Ethel Renbarger, that this graduat- ing class owes much for their suc- cessful and happy days at M.H.S.
