'fi Mrs Myrtle Kelly fa lady of great importance to Marion Coun S, A-A45 ty High School. Mrs. Kelly has been teaching school for thirteen years ten of which have been at M.C.H.S. What on earth would we do without her? Who goes around in a mad panic the day of homecoming lust trying to put all the pieces together? None other than Mrs Kelly. When a candidates escort is nowhere to be found 10 minutes before the homecoming activities begin, once again Mrs. Kel- ly can be counted on to find the lost. If a candidate accidentally rips her dress who else but Mrs. Kelly would be right there with needle and thread tn hand? Homecoming is not the only event Mrs, Kelly spearheads: there is much more to come. She is also in charge of the Student Council and Beta Club Those are two big jobs for any one person to take.Iust stop a moment and think of all the preparations that are necessary for homecoming the homecoming dance, the canned food drive, Beta Club1n1t1at1on awards day, and the list goes on and on. On top of all that she teaches civics and Tennessee History. After 1 long day of school, she is finally able to go home and get a little peace and quiet. Mrs. Kelly and her husband Kenneth reside in Kimball. They have 3 children, who are now grown. Her children are Karen Robert and MaryAnn. Not only is Mrs. Kelly a wonderful school teacher she is a wonderful wife and mother. Marion County High School salutes you, Mrs. Kelly, for a job very well done. J l f . As everyone knows, football is a way of life at M.C.H.S. Sign making was a fun time for everyone, but it was also a time of seriousness as each class tried to outdo the other. The result of all this, that may seem like foolishness to a lot of people was hundreds of signs displayed in various colors containing cat- chy sayings and showing true artistic ability. This time of togetherness showed the spirit of the student body as a whole. 4 7 -L ar X ix r x lohnnie Rutltl Marquita Sartia Tim Sexton Shane Shaclrick Teresa Ware Tammy White April Simmons Mathew Simmons Regina Slatton Mark Styurs Luan Sutton I.iz Swaffortl Leroy 'l'ato Matt 'l'ate Chris 'l'homas Cindy Thomas Stacey Thompson Laliron Warren Eric Watkins Grant Webb Alice White Charles White Helena Willis Marcella Woolf n 41 S K -M, 1 s Q., uf' ' . 49,-5.9. -'d Auf: 'M 4,1-2 FY 'n. Sr. The MCHS cheerleading squad has made the 1984-85 school year something to remember. From the day of spring tryouts until the last basket- ball game the cheerleaders gave 100f!f. Their year began with a summer cheerleading clinic. In Iune they competed at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Out of sixty squads they were ranked second. This wasn't the on- ly award they received. At the state-playoffs they won the Clinic Bowl Spiritfest, These two achievements were accomplished with dedication and hard work, which this squad did not lack. By far, this is one of the best cheerleading squads MCHS has ever seen. SPONSORED BY: FIRST BANK OF MARION COUNTY A SPECIAL THANKS T0 YOUI 63 fi A A K K ' 1 fr 4 ' x l V35 I re I lerri Quarles Ir. Truly no other season e ualed this one because of the outstanding achievements as a wtlwle team. Everyone awaited restlessly the season to begin, knowing that the previous season was a rebuilding one and t at this team should me one of the finest Coach Ken Colquette had ever produced. The season began with the Warriors pitted against their in- famous rivals the South Pittsburgh Pirates and as always it was a thriller. Both teams dis layed their skills which were backed up by numerous days of hard work but as all sporting events go someone had to win and fortunately it was our Warrior squad kicking off another great season as they beat their rivals 17-10. The nine weeks ahead would prove to be most exciting as the Warriors took nine straight victories, showing mercy to none and the fans loved it. Finally the time came. The Warriors would be attempting to make it to the State Finals for the second time in history. This achievement had been the highest goal for the chosen few who had lived through the strenuous training and now it was time to make dreams become reality. The Warriors took the challenge as the won three playoff games in a row, Howard and Maryville being most exciting, played before capacity crowds, yellin at the top of their lungs. After winning the three games, the onf-ly subject of conversation among people was the State Title. It was true, the Warriors had been given the op ortunity once more. Memories of the 82 season still lingered, in the minds of everyone. We were hungry for the championship. Unfortunately teh Warriors lost again but the story was not the same. After the ame was over the Warriors knew they had battles themselves and when playing yourself you can only lose. the players eventually overcame the agon of defeat and looked to brighter things such as breaking a school record with thirteen victories in a single season and of course, next year. . .! 72 I 1 I 4-' l .S NN NG TIQADITIUN 'J :'N?f ' lx IV T141 DAI If Sept Oct 5 12 19 26 Nov 2 9 OPPONE N I South Pittsburg Bledsoe County Bridgeport Whitwell Stevenson Sequatchie Co. They started the year out right by adding something new to the school - the Warrior mural in the gym. Homecoming was very successful thanks to the efforts of the Student Council members. An old tradition was even restored and added to all the ex- citement of homecoming week - a homecoming parade! Everyone got in- volved by each class building their can- didates a float to ride upon. Even though teachers don't always feel appreciated, the Student Council members wanted to show them that they really are ap- preciated by giving them a teacher luncheon on Teacher Appreciation Day. The 1985 Student Council accomplished a great deal more than usual, and, hopefully, they will increase these ac- complishments each year. F.H.A. 1984-85 We began our successful year with a picnic at lim 0liver's Smoke House. Some other events of the year included clue week and initiation, bowling, a visit to U.T.C., ice skating, and a tour of the most popular radio station KZ-106. We've also enjoyed such popular places a Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Bennigan's. Many wonderful speakers visited our meetings and spoke on sexual abuse and handicapped kids. The greatest change in F.H.A. was the addition of ten male members. This represents a time of growth and change for F.H.A. Each day, each hour, each minute is filled with limitless opportunity and possibility. Some ac- tivities we tend to put on the shelf - to wait there. There simply isn't time to do everything people tparents and teachersl lay out for us. We have all the time in the world. Our world is without limits: we can take care of those matters later. This year, however, we were forced to accept one lesson, harsh and premature. Four of our fellow students, four young explorers of possibility, died out of time - out of order - and we who knew them experienced the black void. Edwin Tate, Sheila Thompson, Tim Dover and Denise Foshee were a part of our world for a short time. We had no idea they would be called from us. They are gone and our lives are less. We could never do justice to the lives of our four friends with a simple memorial but we will always remember them with memories, smiles and friendship. 111 8 ii Q yQ Q.. Even though some of the trends ll turn out to be only fads that fade away with the coming of the new year, we shouldn't totally disregard m. The various trends of any year are what make it so memorable. For instance, can you remember when as cool to wear bell-bottomed jeans and earth shoes? Ten years from now you will laugh just as hard what we thought was in when we were in high school. So, whether it be Tom Cruise sunglasses or Dnewashed jeans, the trends of 1985 are worth remembering. if I: DUTY up. . x Q Pg' . l- : rg IES? IAMES FULFER, PEGC l DR. DON F. FLANAGAN DR. JAMES W.
