t6e ScKCOX (plaAA '5% As we, the Seniors of 58, are preparing for our graduation our thoughts turn backward to many things we have done and the friendships we have shared during our school years. We have sixteen members in our class who began school in 1946 in one of the Marion County Schools, Buena Vista, Brantley, Draneville, or Tazewell. Since the schools were consolidated from the seventh grade up, these sixteen members have been together at Marion County High School for five years. We feel that this fact gives our class a special kind of unity. Our class has been well represented in all school activities during our four years of high school. Juanita Welch, Pat Hall, Gayle Youngblood, Carolyn Watts, Dorothy Good- roe, and Joanna Owens have made a great contribution to our girls’ basketball team. Stout McMickle and Roland Jordan have done the same for the boys' team. Emily Taylor, Edith French, Gayle McCorkle, Wayne Jernigan, Juanita McCorkle, and Mary Joyce McMickle have served as cheerleaders. Our class has also had Judy Goodroe, Mary Joyce McMickle, Ralph Wells, Dorothy Goodroe, Pat Hall, Gayle McCorkle, and Emily Tay- lor in the band. Judy Goodroe and Mary Joyce McMickle have been majorettes for the last two years. We have had many participants in F. F. A., F. H. A., Business Club, Library Club, and other school organizations. Some of the outstanding moments during our high school years for individual members as well as for the entire class have been: our winning first place in the Field Day when we were Juniors, Stout McMickle’s and Mary Helms' being crowned King and Queen of the Halloween Carnival during our Sophomore year, Pauline Dobbs' being crowned Miss F. H A. '' in our Junior year, Stout McMickle's winning first place in boys' typing in the district contest in our Junior year, Judy Goodroe's superior rating in her French Horn solo at the Music Festival during our Junior year, the initiation of sixteen of our class members into the Beta club during our Junior and Senior years. The crowning achievement of our Junior year was the Prom-Dance at which we entertained the Seniors. We thought the beautiful underwater scene of King Neptune's Court was outstanding. Our projects dur- ing our Senior year have been mostly pecuniary, but have been conducted successfully under the supervision of our sponsor, Mr. B. G. Moores. The honors, if any, are still un- announced as the annual goes to press. Our school years have meant much to us. We should sincerely like to thank all the friends, parents, and faculty who have helped to make these memories what they are.
